Quote from a Channeling - Change comes from the Bottom Up

In May, I asked Spirit about the turmoil and chaos in the world. I am posting the response as a reminder to myself in this turbulent season.

“Chaos is human nature on the lower level and the lower vibrations. There will always be those who stir things up. That is their purpose in life. Those vibrations also create an opposite reaction, creating a tremendously aware society. Your society has grown by leaps and bounds in respect and peace. An underground layer is growing stronger and stronger by feeling, seeing, and sensing, injustice and disharmony. All the dust stirring is being felt by the next generations. They are becoming empowered, saying, ‘It needs to be different. It needs to be different.’

“No individual can change this. There will be leagues of individuals coming up and wanting things to be different. The status quo will not do. This is coming from the bottom up and is the only way that this can change.

“Our dear, you have had leaders. You have had prophets. You have had God-essence on Earth, only for that dust to be pointed at the very sacred light. The way for Mother Earth to raise its vibration is from the grassroots up. It has happened generation after generation after generation.

“The Earth is not done in its evolution or growth; nor is humankind done. It is in process. It is similar to remodeling a home or cleaning the yard. In the middle of the debris, one exclaims, ‘Oh no!’ but when it is completed, it falls into place and we understand why things are the way they are.”

My husband and I just returned from a trip to New England to visit with family and view the changing colors of the trees. We were “leaf peepers.”

The trip was well balanced between family time and touring time. It’s good to catch up with family news and it’s also good to infuse my brain with something new. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about “Transitions.” After that post, I realized that life is not just one thing and that I needed to seek out new adventures.

During our trip, we had rain, snow, wind, and a few sunny days. Well, people in New England consider them sunny days. They should visit Tucson and see what full sun looks like. ;)

New England’s food was good! We found the kind of fare we cannot find in Tucson, AZ. We savored soups and thick bread, an amazing Latin American lunch in Claremont, NH, and a fabulous potato knish from a Jewish deli. My tummy was delighted. :)

In Waterbury, VT, we visited Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream factory and an apple cider pressing operation. We drove through idyllic small towns and picked up colorful artwork.

This is one of my favorite trip stories: In a small Vermont town, we stopped at a restaurant. We needed to use the restroom. I went first and my husband sat at a two-person table nearby. A few minutes later, we ordered lunch.

As we were eating, I noticed a set of large, plaster angel wings beside our table, tucked under a stairwell. We were able to sit in front and “get our angel wings.” I felt that this was a sign of support from the Universe for our trip. My husband and I are not natural travelers. Occasionally, it’s good to feel that we are in the exact right place at the exact right time.

This was not a metaphysically-based trip. No interviews with psychics were scheduled. However, our energy goes where we go and we can stumble into spiritual places (like those with angel wings) and enlightening conversations. One such conversation resulted in Tuesday’s Quote when my niece told me she had clearly heard, “Revel in your magnificence” – a call to remember who she was. A call for all of us.

Because we were traveling, I wasn’t able to meditate for about 10 days. We had to get up and out of our hotel each day. By the time I got home, I felt frazzled. My energy was thready. After a couple of mornings in my meditation chair, I felt much more centered. It’s good to be home.

These days, it’s hard to watch TV due to the nasty campaign ads, full of lies.

I have always been pleased that these disturbing political seasons are followed by the holidays – a period of gratitude and delight, as if it’s our reward for trudging through the cesspool of political ads.

Last night I asked Spirit if things would get better after the elections. The answer? “Better, but not as good as you hope.”

We are a divided country and some political leaders like it that way. I know we need to unite in love and peace. We need solutions. It’s difficult to find the bridge from fracture to unity, but let’s keep looking.

Just returned from a trip to New England. Found these signs at the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory in Vermont.

“Long Island Medium” is back and I am so grateful this kind of show is on TV. For those of you who have not seen the show, Theresa Caputo talks with the families of people who have passed away. She connects with their loved ones in spirit and brings through messages which heal the family. Each story is moving. Each person (on TV and in the viewing audience) is touched emotionally.

This program brings the idea to an expansive viewing audience that spirits (1) live on, (2) are at peace, and (3) can communicate with us. Their messages help us understand what they thought about their passing and how they are reflecting on their lives (just like the blog series “Lives of the Dead”).

“Long Island Medium” presents beautiful exchanges. It shows intimate moments with surviving relatives and allows all of us to peek in, see how life and death work, and see how healing begins.

Recently, I had a psychic reading and my mother came through. She passed away seven months ago. I hadn’t tried to contact her for a few months because I felt like we needed time apart. Our energies had been twirling around each other for so many years that I wanted to get away; to separate.

I am not ready to share the details of the reading, but it was exactly what I wanted/needed to hear. My mother had taken some time to reflect on her life and to see how her emotions and actions had shaped our relationship. Finally, she had seen the role she had played in our dysfunction and she had taken responsibility for her actions. While alive, she had thought I was the sole reason we hadn’t gotten along. Now, she is seeing a wider perspective.

I’m not writing this from a place of ego, a place of saying, “I was right.” I am writing this from a place of gratitude. Gratitude that she is growing, that Mediums exist, that I got a powerful reading, and that our experience is making sense to her. I am pleased that, like “Long Island Medium,” I have a way to share this story with you as an example of how relationships can begin to heal even after one party has crossed to The Other Side.

I had always hoped my mother would realize that she had contributed to the situations in her life which she had preferred to blame on others. I wanted her to take responsibility, stop blaming others, release her anger, heal, and be happy.

I wish this for her, for myself, and for all of us.

A big “thank you” to those of you who responded to last week’s blog post on Transitions. Some people commented on the blog page, others sent e-mails, others called on the phone or showed up at the Psychic Fair. I appreciate all of your responses!

Three striking things:

(1) It seems that many people are in this “in-between” stage, not quite knowing where they are going.

(2) One person told me that when her husband retired, it took three years to define their new interests and their new life.

(3) Someone else responded that it takes time for each couple to find their “thing.” Eventually, they decide to travel, volunteer, watch grandkids, or do something else. Every couple has a “thing.” Cool.

Finally, I heard from several people (and I know this from trying to figure out the statistics on my website) that there is no way to know how many people are reached through my writing. I have to learn to trust that doing my part (putting it out there) is enough. The work will reach the people who can benefit from it.

Transitions are a B . . . Pain

Announcement: The Mystic Messengers Psychic Fair is this Sunday, October 7, at the DoubleTree Inn at 445 South Alvernon Way in Tucson, AZ. The Fair runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. I will be there to sell books, jewelry, and artwork, and to chat with you. :)

Transitions

My back has been “out” for the last three weeks. I am fine sitting. I am fine standing. But oh, getting up is a pain in my back! The transition from sitting to standing takes a while. I have a “bent over phase” in the middle. Fortunately, backs relax and heal. The human body is a self-healing miracle.

In the next few weeks, I will travel to New England to see the trees changing colors. I like it here in Tucson. I like it in New England. It’s the travel to and fro that is a pain -- that movement from one place to another.

Another type of transition? My husband has run a computer repair business for the last 30 years. Now, he is retiring, but he doesn’t know what to do with his free time. He is leaving work, but not running towards anything in particular. How does he decide what to do? This metamorphosis is quite confusing.

I have a feeling that being alive is fabulous and that being dead is marvelous – but the transition! Oy.

Meanwhile, I am at a crossroads with My Psychic Search Project. I can keep writing or I can lay down the Project and move on. I think I might be at the end of the contract for My Psychic Search. Is it the end of the whole thing or just this phase? Is there another phase?

For 10 years, I’ve interviewed psychics, transcribed channeled messages, and talked to people at the Psychic Fair. I began this exploration during the summer. One day I was floating on a raft in my pool and I had the distinct impression that I was communicating with a spiritual council. I was interested in this work, but unsure whether or not to move forward. Maybe I should get a job? They assured me that if I did this work to make information about the spiritual world accessible to “regular” people, they would provide for me financially. We had a contract. For the last 10 years, I’ve kept up my side of the bargain and they have kept up theirs.

Now, things have changed. I’m not magically meeting people who I would like to interview. The channeling sessions have become oriented towards the people in the room instead of being about huge universal principles and how we should live our lives. The Psychic Fair is quiet. Facebook has changed and it’s harder to get info out to people. My personal gifts have not expanded. I used to connect in a way that felt more psychic. These days, my meditations are quiet.

Has my contract with the universe been completed? Shall I move on to another phase of life? Should I write another book? Maybe my life is quiet so that I have time to write something long. I have a ton of information to share about how life works. Does anyone want to read it?

I’m up in the air as to which way to go. I’m looking for a sign from the universe. This work needs to be reinvigorated with fresh energy and insights, or I need to find another outlet for my enthusiasm.

Any advice?

I could do more or I could do less. Could go either way. My back seems to be the physical manifestation of the struggle with transition.

I heard an interesting channeled message a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t about me or this Project, but it might be applicable. The gist: Life changes, nothing remains the same. We are evolving. Don’t look for this Project where it was. Look for it where it is.

I want to stumble upon something extraordinary.

So, I’m going to new England. Are there spiritualist communities, psychics, or metaphysical stores you recommend?

Back to the trees: they are lovely with leaves, they are beautiful without leaves, and they celebrate the glorious transition between stages. We, too, could revel in our progression. It would sure help if we had a clue where we were going!

“Remember to bring as much joy into your life as you can. The more joyful you are, the brighter your light shines, and the happier you make those around you.

“It’s not really all that difficult. Think about things that bring you joy. Focus on those, get the momentum going in that direction. Smile. Laugh.
