Pondering Change and Growth
When looking at a toddler or a child or a puppy, we can see how quickly they change. Every week brings new skills. When looking at adults, the growth is harder to see. It’s important to take a moment and notice that we are changing and maturing too.
Part of our evolution is moving from the feeling that we need to share our opinions with other people to realizing that other people must make their own decisions. They need to experience certain events so that they, too, can grow.
Spirit shared this message a few weeks ago:
“All of you are in a position in which you can observe. Observe yourself, how much you have grown. How it’s not as vital for you to share your point of view. It is not as vital for you to be understood. It is not as vital for you to defend your ground. You have reached a level within yourself of true integrity, of knowing who and what you are. You can allow others to develop and find out who and what they are, when they are ready, in their divine order and divine timing. That is unconditional love for self and others. That is the level you reach in life.
“It is not that you do not have wisdom to impart, or that the information you share is not wise. It is that in your wisdom, you understand that there are certain aspects in people’s lives that they need to grasp, when they are ready, in their own way, in their own time. You have enough awareness to know that it does not have to be you who shares that aspect.”
As parents, we see our children taking on new roles and responsibilities. We can provide a safety net for them but, until they need that net, we can watch them stumble and succeed as they make life choices. We love them and we can take a step back. Being able to take that step back is a sign of our own growth.
If we are lucky, we also develop the ability to let things go – to release old hurts and grudges. We come to see that our personal freedom of thought is more precious than the muddled mind of grievance. What a lovely release!
In what ways have you measured your personal growth?
