Many psychics tell me about their experiences with ghosts and spirits, so I thought I would pass the info along to you. Most of the time, they tell me that seeing a ghost isn’t scary. But sometimes, the ghost or spirit takes them by surprise and they jump (!), just like we would  startle.

What is the difference between a ghost and a spirit?

A ghost is the essence of a person who has died, but has not yet gone through the Light and completely crossed to The Other Side. A spirit is the essence which has crossed to The Other Side. On this side, we are “souls,” on The Other Side, we are “spirits.”

According to psychics, it is possible for ghosts to hang around Earth. Usually, they do this by choice. They are not stuck. Ghosts may have had strong attachments to people or places. They may not be dealing well with the things they did on Earth and they may have unresolved issues. They may fear ending up in Hell.

It is also possible that ghosts don’t want to go to The Other Side because there is a person here who is longing for them to stay. A living person’s grief can hold someone back. The ghosts don’t know what will happen once they cross over and they wonder if they can be closer to the living person if they stay here on Earth.

One psychic commented that ghosts are often very-religious people who don’t know where they are supposed to go when they pass. They don’t think they deserve to go to Hell, but they also don’t think they deserve to go to Heaven. They think those are the only choices, so they don’t know what to do. They need to go towards the Light.

In some cases, people who have died under surprising or traumatic circumstances, don’t know they are dead. They are not sure what to do or where to go. Angels and entities on The Other Side search for these souls and shine a white light. It’s smart to follow the light.  

Sometimes spirits hang around Earth because they miss it and they miss their loved ones. The grieving is on both sides. Even though they are in a positive atmosphere, when they come back and re-connect with loved ones, they realize how much they miss them and they want to continue hanging around.

Do psychics see ghosts and spirits?

Many psychics have seen ghosts. In some cases, this was the first clue that they were psychic; that they were different from other people.

As a young woman, one psychic moved in with a family who lived in a mortuary. She reported that there were bodies laid out in caskets in the living room. Spirits would walk up, look at the bodies, and walk away. It was her first experience with the deceased checking themselves out in the casket.   

Another psychic had this experience as a child:

    “My grandfather came to me after he had passed away. That was my first experience with The Other Side. I was about eight years old when he came and sat on the corner of my bed. I still remember it. I had a conversation with him. This was about three days after he had passed away. He came and sat on the corner of my bed and I felt him sit down. I opened my eyes and it was my grandfather. In fact, all of my relatives have come to visit me after they have passed. It’s like having a normal conversation with them.”

Here is another “ghost” story:

    “When my ex-husband’s brother Vinnie died, I woke up at about 5:30 a.m. and felt him standing next to my bed. He had died in a trailer fire that night, but I hadn’t yet heard about it. I felt someone standing next to me all night. The phone rang around 7 a.m. and they told me that Vinnie had died. His ghost stayed in our house for about two weeks and I would see him standing around and walking down the hallway. At night, he would stand next to my bed and want me to astral travel with him. He talked to me. I started praying that he would go into the Light and after about two weeks, that is what he did.”

Sometimes, spirits who have crossed over are able to help us through difficult times. Here is one psychic’s story:

    “When I was going through my divorce, my ex-husband and I lived on opposite sides of our house for a year until the divorce went through. His whole family lived in town, and I didn’t have any family in the area so I asked my grandfather who had passed away if he could come down and help me. Immediately, I felt him standing next to me. The next day, a videographer came over and told me that, in addition to photography, he also did readings. He asked if I wanted a reading. He told me that my grandfather was there and that he was protecting me with shields all around my body.

    “At times, I could feel my grandfather standing next to my bed. When I went to my car, he would come with me and sit down next to me. I could see the seat sink down.

    After the divorce: “When I was settled, I thanked my grandfather for helping me and I told him that my brother had cancer and I asked that he go help my brother. After that, I didn’t feel him around any more. About a month later, I went to one of my spiritual teachers for a reading and I asked if she saw my grandfather. She didn’t know if he was alive or dead, but she responded, ‘Oh yes. He’s in Heaven. He was helping you for a while, through your divorce, but now he is helping your brother.’”

One psychic told me that sometimes she sees little kid energy dashing by. It looks like white flashes.

Is it frightening to see a ghost?

One of the psychics told me that seeing ghosts can be scary because it is so unexpected. Most of the time there isn’t anything to be afraid of, but it is surprising to wake up and find ghosts looking at her. Occasionally, there are scary-looking ghosts, but most psychics are able to limit what they see, and choose not to see such frightening sights.

The psychic who, as a small child, saw her grandfather wasn’t frightened at all. She said it was just like seeing him in real life.

Jews around the world recently completed the Ten Days of Repentance which stretch from Rosh Hashana to Yom Kippur. During this period people reflect on their lives, strive to see what they have done well, and examine areas which could use improvement. Then, apologies are made for shortcomings and resolutions are made for improvement.

Life has a balance and a flow. It’s important to congratulate ourselves for the areas where we are doing well, in addition to dwelling on the areas where we could do better. It’s easy to lose our balance and focus only on our inadequacies.

Spirit says that we are here for experiences. There are times when we do the right thing and times when we do the “wrong” thing, just for the experience of doing something out of character. Once we have learned from our mistakes, we don’t need to try them again.

So, in ruminating over the things we think we have done poorly, we shouldn’t just castigate ourselves. We should look to see if our soul benefited in some way from trying the experience of doing something “bad.”

I’m not a fan of self-flagellation. I can’t avoid it. It happens. Something humiliating enters my mind and I play it over and over. Most of the time, I’ve put more emphasis on it than any other person who was involved. I diverge. My point is that I don’t think we have to beat ourselves up when we make a mistake. Instead, we can learn the lesson and make a course correction.

A few years ago, I heard this message channeled through a friend:

“Some of you feel that you have literally been on a roller coaster of life. You have had ups and downs. Some have been too high and some have been too low. Know that you would not have missed it for anything. The road has a way of balancing out. What goes up, must come down, and it is all okay. It is all in the ride of life. Yes, it is true that there is a balancing. Those who were not nurtured will have nurturing. Those who have had plenty of nurturing will be in the position to nurture others. That is the flow. That is the gift. That is the blessing.”

Another person channeled:

“Keep track of yourself, for you are the most important part of your world. Do the things which make you happy, which please you. That give you reward, that give you a sense of accomplishment, a sense of being needed, and a sense of fulfillment.”

“Know that there are no mistakes and no reason to beat yourself up over something. These are just experiences. Some are more gratifying than others, but there again, just experiences. You are a creator and sometimes you forget that. You forget about creating your experience, creating the things which come down the pike to fill your world, to fill your experience.”

“In the scheme of things, everything is perfect as it is. Shift your perception of all that you do, all that you achieve, and see the perfection in yourself.”

“Your path is your path and it is perfect no matter what turn or branch you take.”

“Know the love we send to you and the joy that we have helping you. We ask that you do not forget us. We are at your beck and call to assist in any way we can. Be satisfied with how you have done. You have done a grand job. Perfect in every respect.”

“Say, ‘It’s going to be a wonderful day, abundant, superb. I’m going to be happy and enjoy whatever happens.’ That way, you leave it open for adventure and new things. Enough specificity that you are in control, but enough non-specific that you allow Source to bring your desires.”

“You are this magnificent being who has unlimited power and can come in and alter situations.  For each and every one of you, the experience is a precious thing. The experience. That is why you are here. The experience to create, the experience of physicality, the experience of touch, the experience of all the jagged emotions.”

All the experiences, all the jagged emotions. We are doing the best we can to live out the life we need. No need for regrets. No need for self-punishment. Made a mistake? Learn the lesson, improve, and move on.
