The channeler brought through a couple of responses to this question. I am also adding information from books I have read.
Spirit responded to this woman’s question, saying:
“I would not recommend that anybody leave the planet ahead of their exit time. Once you make that choice, you are stopping what's happening in this life. Even though it seems like nothing is happening, or it's boring, or you're done, or you're sick, it's not allowing all things. The bottom line is, ‘Allow all things.’ There are some exceptions to that. Some people have left and learned the lessons that you learn once you leave intentionally.”
In fact, some people have programmed suicide into their life contract. It’s possible that they signed up for this to allow other people the experience of dealing with a loved one’s suicide.
As for this woman’s life purpose being accomplished, there was no way to know if that was true if she left early. Perhaps there was a purpose she hadn't yet seen? Some people live an entire life to learn one lesson. Choosing to leave early might deprive that person of a lesson which still needed to be learned, or an epiphany that still needed to happen.
Everyone has natural “exit points.” It has been said that you have five times when you can leave. People may have car accidents, near-drownings, illnesses, etc., and choose to leave. Or, they may choose to remain on Earth and wait for another exit point.
Suicide is a man-made exit point. From our viewpoint, there’s no way to know if this kind of death might be tied to a predetermined time to leave, or if it is an intentional shortening of a life. On one hand, a soul might know that it had contracted for a specific number of years on Earth and begun looking for a way out. On the other hand, a person might be overwhelmed by emotions and make an impulsive choice to leave.
Those who decide to kill themselves will come into spirit and will be counseled on options they could have taken. They will receive guidance for adjusting to the emotional journey that they put themselves on. They will be shown how to see more light in their life; more goodness, grace, and mercy. This will help them adjust.
Once we are on The Other Side, I hope we will have answers to these questions about the timing of a death. From this side, there is a lot of ambiguity.
Here are two thoughts on suicide from books written by psychic Mediums.
In 2008, Concetta Bertoldi wrote a book entitled, Do Dead People Watch you Shower? (Harper Collins, NY). In this book, she provided her understanding of what happens to people who have committed suicide. She believes that The Other Side is filled with justice, forgiveness and healing. Spirit Guides help the individual who has committed suicide to forgive and heal himself. It is the spirit who killed himself who must be able to forgive himself. However, this isn’t easy because the spirit is aware that it has done something wrong. The person has lost the opportunity to balance that life’s Karma and has created additional Karma which will need to be re-balanced in another lifetime. She felt that people who committed suicide would be forgiven by G-d, but would struggle to forgive themselves.
In his book, born Knowing (Hay House, CA, 2003), John Holland explains that there is no running from problems. Since there’s no real death, there’s no escape from dilemmas and issues. He has a very different kind of feeling when communicating with people who have committed suicide. They are usually full of regret because they can see how those left behind were affected. On The Other Side, they begin to understand the differences they could have made in their own lives, as well as the lives of others. When these spirits communicate with John, they rarely want to talk about how they passed and they don’t communicate with him for long. He believes that these spirits are going through a process of healing and need all of their energy to work on themselves. He suggests that people pray for those who have taken their own lives so that they can be assisted in the healing process.

Leaving this planet can be complicated (or it can be easy). Sometimes, we don’t know if someone had a natural exit point, or if they chose to leave of their own accord. Either way, we can send light to them and hope our love supports them on their journey.

This blog post is a "think piece" based on an actual question about transitioning to The Other Side. It is a starting point for discussion, not a full explanation.
