It’s so simple. There are people we will not get along with. We don’t have to try so hard to be friends. We have different attitudes and priorities. I like to think that I can find common ground with most people. Apparently, that’s not so and I have been advised to let those people go. No right. No wrong. No need to be together.
If we are not working towards a common goal, we have nothing in common.
It’s fine not to agree on things as long as we can still laugh together and enjoy a good conversation. But if we don’t care about the same things and we don’t enjoy each other’s company, we can move on. We can stop trying to make things work. Life doesn't need to be that hard.
To add another metaphysical twist, someone on The Other Side said to me, “I don’t see things the way you see things. The truth is that I don‘t want to see things the way you see things. I’m not interested in that.” Well, then. That was kind of a reality slap in the face. I keep looking for a happy ending, a resolution. It's not going to happen. [Sad face]
Whether it’s our personal family or our national family, if the things which matter to one group don’t matter to the other, we will never understand each other. We can be civil to each other, but we don’t have to pretend to be friends.
It’s so simple, but I had to be told THREE times. Why didn’t I see this more clearly all along?
