Many lives converge at the Southern Arizona Arts Guild (SAAG) Gallery of Gifts in the LaEncantada shopping center. I have been part of this group for two years and have spoken with many artists. We work together and share our life stories as we pass the time. No matter where we started or what we have done, we have all ended up at the same place.
Life stories fascinate me. How can there be so many variations on a theme? People can live anywhere in the world and pursue any passion. Some people have many choices, others have limited paths.
I feel like the gallery should be the jumping off place for a TV show. It could portray us working together, then follow individuals home to completely different lives.
We represent every economic strata. Some people are well off, while others struggle to make ends meet. We have artists who are gay and artists who are straight. Artists who are Democrats, Republicans, and “not interested.” One artist’s family owns a blueberry farm – talk about a completely different lifestyle from mine.
And, of course, some of the artists are psychic!
Most of the artists were born in America, but I met one woman from Cuba, one from Italy, one from West Germany, and one from South Africa. How did we all end up in this small gallery in Tucson, AZ?
Even if you look at three people who are the same age, one will look older than her years and one will look younger than her years. With some folks, you can’t even tell which age decade they are in!
Many artists have completed careers as teachers, nurses, accountants, doctors, builders and bartenders. I have met people who surf and ski. One guy worked on race cars.
One artist grew up in the U.S., moved to the Middle East to teach for a year, ended up working in a palace, and stayed for 25 years. The artist from South Africa told us that there is a genocide in progress. Woman are being carjacked and raped. Farmers are being killed. It’s not all rosy out there.
I met someone who grew up in Italy and immigrated to the U.S. and someone who lives in the U.S., but spends a lot of time in Italy. Another person, with a beautiful voice, sang to us in Italian.
One person came from a family with 12 siblings, while another artist is the mother of 11 children.
Life stories fascinate me. So many lives, so many stories, and so many adventures.
During a recent channeling event, I asked how to navigate life. Susan Sampson brought this information through:
“There is no one way to navigate this energy field. The way to navigate it for yourself is to do the best you can and know that the best you can, is the BEST that you possibly can navigate it. The days that you feel like you have failed in your navigation and you want to pull the covers up to your chin and say, “Show me a movie.” “Read me a book.” – that’s the best you can do that day. That’s okay. There is no perfection to strive for. There is no “best way” to do it. The way you scramble through this energy, whether you perceive it as good scrambling, successful scrambling, or a failure of movement, is all good. There is no best and worst. There is just getting through it.
“There is no right way to do anything. There is only your way, your soul’s way, and it is your soul’s way that is the best for you. Whether you perceive your way as being successful or not, it is the best for your soul. It is making those decisions, putting you in places where you perceive it as flourishing or putting you in places where you see yourself striving, working hard, not getting ahead, all those things. Whatever path that is, that is the path of your soul at that moment. It’s perfectly fine. It is successful.
“You can change your mind and change your path. That is successful too. You can not change your mind. You can move to the woods and never meet another human soul, that’s okay too. Whatever you want to do is okay. There is no stress put on you except that which you and your society give you. Is that clear?
“Life is meant to be lived in joy and wonder.”
I find this message very reassuring. I hope you do too.
