Setting your intention is about dreaming big and putting your desires out to the Universe.
Not having expectations is about letting things flow according to a plan we can’t see.
In addition, when we expect something, we might be disappointed. When we keep our expectations low, we can be pleasantly surprised.
I asked Karreen Martin what she thought about expectations. She answered, “If you have no expectations, nothing happens.” She prefers to set an intention and expect that her intention will manifest.
I asked Kathy McMillan about this topic too.
Kathy noted that part of manifesting is “not pushing.” You allow. You are in the vibration of allowing something to happen. If it’s meant to be, it will be.
She went on to channel:
“It’s very simple. Don’t make it complicated.”
“Focus on what you have, not what you don’t have. Be thankful that you have that. Be satisfied with that and eager for more. Satisfied where you are and eager for more.
“Be open to new adventures, to new paths, to new manifesting. Allow. You can’t force anything. You have to allow and you have to be a vibrational match to what it is you are trying to manifest. It’s very easy. Once things start to flow, they flow. Go with that flow. Smile and say, ‘I did that. I manifested that. I created that.’ Be aware that you create whatever it is, whether you consider it good or bad. Take responsibility and be aware that you created it. If you don’t like it, do something different next time.”
When I asked Laurie Hays about this, she mentioned that it was important to dream.
When it came to intention vs. not expecting, Laurie reminded me that it is about balance. She said, “Dream like a little kid. A little kid doesn’t say they want a bike. They say they want the red Schwinn with the bell and the horn. Put that out there and then say, ‘Or gifts greater than I know to ask.’ Then watch it come. When you see a little black bike go by, say, ‘It could have been, but it’s black.’ Don’t settle.
“Your heart sings when you manifest. More will manifest until you get the one which makes your heart sing.”
My take away from this discussion is that it is important to dream big and put that out to the Universe. Then, without expectation, sit back and see what happens. Be in the kind of vibrational alignment which allows your dreams to come to you. Be satisfied where you are and eager for more.
What’s that old saying, “Push and Pray”? Do your part and ask the Universe to do its part too.
One more thing -- the ultimate goal is Joy. The net result of everything you do in life, the reward and the goal, is joy. You are here to experience the thrill and excitement that physical life offers. The most important thing in life is the joy you receive within your heart in creating what you wish to manifest.
As you set your intention, ask, “What would bring me joy?”
I love having the kinds of friends and acquaintances where I can ask philosophical questions.
