“Then I shuffled a deck of cards and they all had different faces, lifetimes, places and people, and a voice said, ‘You’re Marta this time!’ I remembered I was Marta and that being Marta was an easy one. I was unemotionally seeing all of these other lives. I could have been rotting in a prison in the middle ages. None of it mattered. There was no emotional response, I just needed to know who I was waking up to. It was extremely humbling.”
